Foiled Print - Three Graces A4
A hand drawn illustration inspired by the playful bronze sculpture of The Three Graces by Philippa Downes in Livery Street Leamington Spa.
In the Victorian times, a famous elephant trainer called Samuel Lockhart (who originated from Leamington) brought back three elephants from Sri Lanka, named Haddie, Trilby and Wilhelmina (aka 'The Three Graces').
They became a part of Lockhart's famous circus act. He would parade them through town and bathe them in the river Leam near Mill Bridge. They even had their own elephant house in Morton Street.
Originally hand drawn using my ipad, I combined the illustration with hand written pen & ink text to create a foiled print version of this design.
